Kargilik County, part of the Kashgar region of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, has twice been“ walnut's home in China”. On July 10,2009, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine approved the introduction of Geographical Indication product protection for Kargilik County 's Walnuts. 

There are 550,000 mu walnut forest in the county and the annual output can reach 55,000 tons. Walnuts here have thin shells,   abundant  flesh and high oil content. Kargilik County walnuts are mostly natural, sun-dried and 100% green.
